We're all entitled to a little privacy, especially where our mobiles are concerned. Loky creates a secure, private area on your mobile where you can hide sensitive contacts, filter their messages (SMS & MMS) away from your regular message inbox, send messages back to them and even store your sensitive media files and documents! As the ux lead on this project I saw the project from inception to it's successful release into the app stores and continue to deliver bi-weekly app updates.
ZangBeZang has created a revolutionary marketing platform that allows mobile operators to compete with over-the-top providers and transform their per consumer marketing capability. The platform has interworking components of loyalty, advertising and commerce all driven by an advanced profile generated by the platform. This drives revenue and customer retention, enables advertising companies to effectively target consumers on an individual basis while adding value to the end consumer through the delivery of relevant marketing offerings via value added consumer applications. The interworking of all these elements through a single platform is unique and disruptive.
LoopIt is a music creation and sharing iPhone app, designed as a loop machine for beatboxers, in partnership with the worlds leading stars inc Killa Kella, Beardyman and Eklips to name a few. A powerful sequencer allows you to record your own sounds and instantly loop and layer them. Using your own sounds plus the add-on packs you can quickly be jamming alongside world famous beatboxers.
Due to the complexity of this app the project went through a lot of user testing. We had sessions with professional beatboxers to acquire an understanding of the real loop machines we were trying to emulate. Working with Axure for prototyping allowed me to quickly rearrange functionality and UI during these sessions so to maximise feedback time.
Designing a robust UX for a social network was a rewarding challenge, especially due to the size of the site and its modular system. The modules we designed needed to work on their own while organically fitting in with the entire system.
User testing is a crucial part of my role as a UX Designer. It's where I see how users interact with my designs in a real world scenario. With the knowledge gained from just the first round of user testing I was able to design a more sophisticated navigation bar, rearranged notifications to be part of this bar and fix other crucial elements.
I was the graphical animator for the Built Like An Amplifier music video by Killa Kela, which was set in a Japanese karaoke bar. I created a karaoke video with all the lyrics in Japanese that appears in the video at various points. For part of the video I animated translated Japanese symbols in time with Kela's beatboxing. Timing this part right was the hardest part of the job but it really gives the video a feeling of depth.
As a spin off from the official video, Me, Kela and Jeff Metal created a potential viral. We created a tongue in cheek 80"s Japanese karaoke video using a green screen and a large selection of props. We had a lot of fun producing it and the video got a lot of laughs from the label and fans.
Milk Face is a club night at 333 on Hoxton Square. I created a series of posters for these party's. I created a style that helps gives the night a feeling and sense of emotion. These party’s are a lot of fun and I believe these posters reflect this in a quirky and engaging way.
milk-face.com was made to promote these parties, when users visited I didn't want to bombard them with dates and other information they'll tune out. I created the space above the fold to be fun, enjoyable and interactive. I wanted users to get a feel for the night, once they were engaged they scroll down to reveal the crucial information just below the fold.
I believe that being a UX Designer is about connecting human emotion with graphical interfaces. I want users to feel engaged on a personal level, to the point the objects they see feel tangible.
I'm a focused UX Designer with a passion for making intuitive interfaces. When approaching a project I always think outside the box, finding inspiration in the most unlikely of places. Ever since I was a kid I was always breaking things down to find out how they worked; now I'm able to live this dream by creating some of the most engaging and easy to use user interfaces. I question everything I create and consume, driven by a desire to find the right solution for every problem.
I live to explore, dream and drink copious amounts of tea.
